in this article, I will be discussing all the upcoming horror films of 2024 and my excitement for them

  1. the watchers-June 7th

I was excited for the watchers but then I heard it was pg 13 and pg 13 horror movies suck around 95 percent of the time but who knows maybe it could surprise me I am hoping it surprises me, from the trailer it looks unique and cool and I am interested. this movie is being directed by m night Shamalan's daughter so i am interested to see her first movie. i am interested to see if she relies on plot twists or not.

2. a quiet place day one July 28

I am pretty excited about a quiet place today 1 it looks so high budget it looks at least 100 million we rarely get high-budget horror films so this could be the highest budget for a horror movie ever, and the first two films were critically received well so I think that the people behind these movies are talented. from the trailer, it looks pretty good and I am hoping to see more of the CGI aliens

3. the exorcism

I originally thought that this was a sequel to The Pope's exorcist but I guess not russell crow was just in 2 exorcism movies in around a year, I thought it wouldn't be that good but then I heard Kevin Williamson would be writing it and he wrote Scream so now I think it is going to be amazing. I think it will be very self-aware since it takes place on a film set and they might get sued since they said from the creator of Scream in the trailer and I know what you did last summer and got sued for that. also, this movie has a 4.8 on IMDB so it might be bad but it has one review on Rotten Tomatoes and it is a good review. this movie has also had like no advertising and it is coming out in just a few weeks.

3. Maxxxine-July 4

the new a24 horror film by Ti West will most likely be good, one reason is a24 is extremely universally liked and 83 percent of a24 movies have positive reviews which is a lot compared to other movie companies. another reason is the trailer looks very good and different and unique. another reason is it is way higher budget than Pearl and x looking more like 10-20 million so they could probably pay to have a lot more talent behind the scenes. another reason is the other a24 movies are considered the best horror movies of the years they came out. another reason is that West is an extremely talented director and filmmaker. another reason is the other two films in the series have amazing reviews which proves the people creating them are very talented so they will be talented at this movie.

4. longlegs-July 12

The latest chiller from Oz Perkins (The Blackcoat’s DaughterGretel & Hansel) takes place in 1974, following a young FBI agent (Maika Monroe) tasked with trying to crack an unsolved serial killer case who begins to uncover evidence of occult practices and a personal link to the murders.

longlegs looks pretty interesting we don't know much about it and the trailers are pretty vague but it has great actors and an interesting premise so I'm excited. update from a couple days later, the test screenings came out and people seem mixed on it but mostly good some people think its a masterpiece and some people think that it sucks. people think you need the acquired taste and that it is a slow burn which some people have been hating on slow burns recently and some people have been loving them calling them elevated. people also think nicolas cage is great. the movie is very low on jumpscares which is amazing because jumpscares are so overused and annoying and people have been begging movie studios to stop with the jumpscares and thankfully recently we have been getting a lot more jumpscare-less movies. if you look at the reviews on the fangoria webstie though they seem very good with people saying it could be the best horror film of 2024, the reviews also say its very scary and i love it when a movie can be scary and have no jumpscares, overall the reviews seem pretty good but a little mixed, many times the test screenings start out badly and then when it comes out people love it so it could be loved when it comes out.

5. cuckoo-august 2

Director Tilman Singer follows up his 2018 feature debut Luz with this thriller starring Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer as rebellious teen Gretchen, who moves with her father’s new family to live in a German mountain resort run by a mysterious caretaker who takes an unusual interest in Gretchen’s mute half-sister. This is just the set-up for a blood-soaked mind-bender that ratchets things up to 11 and never looks back.

I am very excited for Cuckoo it looks very interesting and currently has an 81 percent on rotten tomatoes and the trailer looks super interesting this is a big year for neon horror films. I have seen the trailer a bunch of times and the trailer has great music and does a great job at making you interested. the reviews make me nervous since they say that the film takes itself too seriously and its story isn't that strong

6. speak no evil-august 9th

James Watkins (Eden Lake, The Woman in Black) helms this remake of the disturbing 2022 Danish psychological thriller (seen in the photo above) about a family on vacation who befriend another family and accept an invitation to visit them at their home, only to discover their hosts may not be as gracious as they seem.

I am not very excited about this movie it is a remake of a 2-year-old film that seems pointless why would people see this movie when they could see the original for cheaper or on a streaming service, and the trailer looks pretty bad. a lot of people said that the original movies ending was super f'd up so will this movies ending be more f'd up than tthe other one who knows, this movie is going to be like rec and quarentine where there is an amazing movie from another country and people in america remake it but worse

7. alien romulus-augest 16

I am not a very big alien fan i don't like all of them except I thought Alien Covenant was descent i know the first two are beloved by many but I am not one of those people I didnt like those two and I thought that they were boring. even though I don't like the franchise I hope this movie surprises me. from the trailers, it looks pretty average an alien on a ship with a bunch of people but there were a bunch of face huggers on the ship so I think maybe they are going to put a bunch of aliens too that could be interesting I hope that they do something unique and don't just copy the others and I hope the characters are interesting which this franchise hasn't been too good at doing. fede Alverez will be working on this one and he is a very talented person since he made the Evil Dead remake and Don't Breathe, which are both great movies, and the franchise sometimes leaves horror films and goes more into sci-fi films so since Fede Alvarez likes the horror genre I think that he could make it more horror than sci-fi. hopefully this will be like prey where a franchise made a new movie that made people love the franchise again.

8. never let go-september 27

this looks like a super interesting idea even though it doesnt make a ton of sense, i think they showed that they have some interesting ideas in the trailer. and i am always excited for a low budget apocolypse horror movie since those are always great. i am excited to see this movie and always happy to see new original ideas

9. smile 2-Octoberber 18th

the first movie surprisingly good but I have no hope for this sequel it seems like a cashgrab I loved the first movie and I think it was executed well for its concept bItdon'tont think they can do it well again. i was hoping Kyle Gallner would come back to his role but will not :(

10. terrifier-Octoberber 25

I am pretty excited for terTerrifierir 3 Damien Leone is a talented person and loves art clowns and slashers, aId i think with Terrifier he didn't do that well but he did well enough to disgust me and entertain me for 90 minutes but the second one was very great and did an amazing job at disgusting me an entertaining me for 140 minutes and if Damien leone can look at the positive things people said about that movie and do something similar too it I think this movie would be great. i know it has a huge possibility of being bad and it has a weird idea with Art the Clown on Christmas. I don't know if as Art Clown becomes more mainstream his movies will become rated r and get less gory but maybe he will but I don't think that Damien Leone would do that. i hope this movie actually has a story instead of just a bunch of violent scenes and i hope it answers all of the questions from the last movie, and i hope they dont create even more questions.

11. NOSFERATU-Decemberber 25th

I am excited about Nosferatu it is Robertert Eggers who I think is a very talented director and it has Bill Skarsgard who i think is a very talented actor and it is based on a movie many people love so i think it could be interesting and it Nicolas Hoult who has been getting a lot of roles in movies lately and has been in a couple horror movies i am pretty excited for this movie and i hope it could be good and i know it will most likely be good since robert eggers hasn't directed a badly reviewed movie

Unknown release dates of movies

12. Salem's lot

The plot centers on a writer who returns to his hometown of Jerusalem's Lot in search of inspiration, only to discover the presence of a vampire. this is a movie doesnt have a release date and there has been a lot of delays with it and it was supposed to come out last year but warner brothers decided to make it a straight to streaming movie but it may not go onto straight to streaming. i am excited to see this because steven king movies are always great and this is a very highly anticipated movie from horror fans.

13. Shelby Oaks

this movie is made by a youtuber and i am very excited from the description it looks interesting. and i am always happy when youtubers get to make their own movies.

14. iron lung

this movie is made by a much larger youtuber named markeplier and i havent played the iron lung game so i dont know how the movie will compare but i know that most video game movies suck but who knows maybe it will be good and suprise me it looks interesting from the trailer and the description
