INTRO

Saw has had a huge global impact and has become a cultural phenomenon in the world of horror. This will be a review of every saw trap and talking about how an indie film evolved into a billion dollar franchise. This terrifying journey begins with the film saw in 2004 a film that introduced audiences to the famous jigsaw killer. Then the suspense continues with saw 2 in 2005 then saw 3 with slow ass motherfuckin Jeff in 2006 then saw 4 in 2007 then saw 5 in 2008 then saw 6 in 2009 then saw 3D in 2010. The series was so famous there was 7 films in 7 years then the franchise ended for a while until jigsaw 2017 which was a revival for the franchise and then spiral from the book of saw in 2021 then saw x in 2023 and soon saw 11 in 2025. This franchise is famous for many reasons but arguably the biggest one is the traps which is what I will be ranking today I will go in order from saw to saw x so this won’t be a ranking from my favorite to least favorite. Now there are a ton of traps and so many in fact that I don’t remember all of them so thank god for James a janees the kill count god if you don’t watch him go watch him right now.Ok I will begin but just a warning this contains spoilers for films that are old by now.

SAW 1

let’s begin we start with the bathroom trap from saw 1 arguably the most famous and the trap that started it all. This isn’t a very gory trap and most of the violence is offscreen but it is a classic so I am going to have to put it in c tier.Next is the razor maze which the victim died I put this in c tier it isn’t awesome but it’s a cool idea I am trying to be strict. Next is the flammable jelly which I feel like this one is kinda unfair but a decent concept I give this a c tier.Next is a trap that has become super famous and is the reverse trap known for its violence and terror doesn’t murder in the first one but it is used on Jill in a later installment and looks super awesome i don’t usually like explaining how they work since you already know since you have seen all of these traps but this one is so good I just love explaining it. It is a bear trap that is reversed and attached to your mouth and rips open your mouth and looks so cool in the first movie Amanda has it attached to her mouth and the suspense builds as you worry she may face a violent death but she solves his puzzle and gets the key by killing someone and unlocks it right before it goes open then later it is used on Hoffman but he is a sigma and a genius and stops it before it can rip his mouth open but Jill doesn’t get as lucky and it rips that chicks mouth open so awesomely. This is an easy S tier. This is arguably the most famous saw trap.

SAW 2

Ok from now on I will explain them before putting them in a ranking. now I am on saw 2 and will be ranking the traps in order from when there used in the movie in saw 2. Enjoy

The victim of this trap was Michael Marks. He had a mechanical contraption locked around his neck, which worked similar to an iron maiden. The trap, a so-called Death Mask, was divided in two separate parts, the back and the front part of the mask. Both parts were angled down from Michael's head. The inside of both parts was spiked with numerous pointy nails. Once the game began, the mask would close in on his head and pierce it with the nails if Michael wasn't able to unlock the trap within 60 seconds. The key was surgically implanted behind his right eye. In order to obtain it, Michael had to cut it out with a scalpel lying in a tool box before him.I put this in A tier it feels hard to waych but still leaves a lot to the imagination which is something a good saw trap should do. But it is really hard to cut out your own eye so I get why he couldn’t do it. Jigsaw is also super unfair with his time limits. The victim of this trap was Gus Colyard. This trap was designed as a security device to prevent the prisoners of the Nerve Gas House from leaving the Antidote Safe Room. It consisted of a metal contraption, which was mounted to the outside of the heavy metal door of the room. Attached to it was a revolver, aimed directly at the door's peephole. Additionally, the trigger of the gun was connected to a chain and a pulley, which in turn were connected to the lock of the door. The prisoners inside the room were provided with a key and a message, which warned them not to open the door with the key. If one of them did it nonetheless, this would trigger the revolver, which would then shoot whoever stood in front of the peephole. Besides the trap itself, a timer was attached to the door. Once it went off, the door would open without activating the trap. Now this trap is super unlikely and not that cool and it is unlikely that someone would be using the key while looking in the peep hole but they needed an extra kill in the movie to stop audiences from being bored by this stupid movie so fuck it D tier. The victim of this trap was Obi Tate. He had to crawl into a large, metallic furnace located in the middle of the basement of the Nerve Gas House. Inside the furnace were two of the antidotes for the nerve gas, hanging from two chains. While one of the syringes could be easily removed, the chain with the second antidote was connected to the small door of the furnace. Once Obi pulled the chain, a mechanism would close and lock the door. Seconds later, the fire inside the oven would turn on and continuously come closer to Obi as the burners of the oven turned on one by one. In order to survive, Obi had to crawl through the flames and turn a red valve next to the door. Next to it was a drawing of a red devil pointing at the valve. Turning it would turn off the gas supply of the oven which fueled the flames. This is a decent trap it is a cool idea and I always like fire. But its so obvious how he could have survived this test. D tierThe victims of this trap were Officer Pete Bakerand two of his fellow SWAT team members. This trap was designed as a security device to secure Jigsaw's hideout inside the abandoned Wilson Steel Plant. Originally, it was merely an ordinary staircase surrounded by a chain-link cage. However, one of the wooden steps was manipulated. If enough pressure was exerted on the previous step, the rigged one would spring forward and break the legs of the person standing on the stairs. Moments later, the surrounding cage would be energized, giving everyone who touched it a lethal shock.I put this in D tier it isn’t that cool and isn’t executed that well and isn’t memorable at all.The victim of this trap was Amanda Young, even though it was originally designed for Xavier Chavez. It was located in one of the rooms on the upper floor of the Nerve Gas House. The pit was actually a giant hole in the center of this room. It was filled with over tens of thousands of filthy, used syringes. Additionally, there were two doors in the room. The first one was a wooden door through which the room could be entered. The other door, located at the back part of the room, was a heavy metal door. Behind it was a syringe with an antidote for the nerve gas. Once the game began, the prisoners had only a few minutes to find the key, as otherwise, the door to the antidote would be locked permanently after a short time, making it impossible to obtain the antidote. The key was attached to a glow stick plugged in one of the countless syringes in the pit. This goes in S tier it is a amazing trap when I think of saw I think of this trap and the needle pit this is very uncomfortable to watch and so hard to watch it makes you want to look away but it feels like the screen is forcing you to lookThe victim of this trap was Addison Corday. It was located in one of the rooms of the Nerve Gas House and consisted of a large glass box suspended from the ceiling by four chains. Glued to the bottom of the box was a syringe with the antidote for the nerve gas. There were two holes in the bottom of the box, just big enough to put an arm through them. However, on top of the holes were large, sharp razor blades, which were impossible for the victim to see when standing in front of the box.If Addison put her hand through one of these holes, she'd be able to push the blades aside but couldn't pull her hand back out again, as every attempt to do so would cause the blades to cut deeper into her arms and wrists, leading to a massive loss of blood and subsequently her death. In order to obtain the antidote inside, Addison merely had to look at the other side of the box where a lock was located, with the key already sticking in it.I put this in C tier it’s a little painful to watch but unfortunately we don’t get to see her take her final breath which makes it disappointing

Saw 3

The classroom trap

The victim of this trap was Troy. It was located in a classroom at an elementary school. Troy was stripped almost entirely naked and sat on a chair in the middle of the room. There were eleven chains hanging from the walls, the floor and the ceiling. Attached to each of these chains were large metal rings that were pierced through several parts of Troy's body. Ten of the chains were pierced through his hands, shoulders, achilles tendons, arms and external obliques while the ring of the last chain was pierced through his lower jaw. On a table right in front of him was a nail bomb with a timer. In order to avoid being killed by the explosion, Troy had to rip out the chains before the timer went off. This is one of the most unbearable saw traps Amanda young sets up this unfair trap and a man has rings attached to parts of his body and his jaw and there is no way he can rip out his jaw. F tierThe victim of this trap was Detective Allison Kerry. She wore a leather harness, which was secured by a padlock, and was suspended slightly above the floor by two chains. Attached to her back was a heavy metal device with two mechanical arms, which, in their initial position, looked like two folded up wings. Additionally, twelve c-shaped metal brackets were laid tightly around Kerry's chest, with six brackets on each side of her body. These brackets were hooked into her ribcage and were connected with the contraption on her back by several wires. Once the game began, the contraption would spread out its mechanical arms like wings and brutally rip out the brackets hooked into Kerry's chest if she didn't manage to free herself within 60 seconds. The key to the padlock of the harness lay in a beaker filled with acid, which was suspended from the ceiling by two chains directly in front of her.I give this an A tier I would describe this the same way the creator did as beautiful and elegant while being terrifying. It is buatifully shot and a cool concept but it is unwinnable. The victim of this trap was Danica Scott. It was the first part of Jeff Denlon's trial at the Gideon Meatpacking Plant. Danica was stripped down entirely and chained by the arms to the ceiling in the middle of a freezer room. Positioned to the right and the left of her were two vertical metal poles, each one with six nozzles that aimed at her body. Connected to each nozzle was a long hose, which in return was connected to the room's water supply. Once the game began, Danica would be sprayed with icy water in periodic intervals, which would ultimately result in her being frozen to death. To survive, she had to rely on the help of Jeff Denlon. The key to her chains hung from a wire behind multiple cooling pipes on the room's back wall. Jeff merely had to grab through these pipes in order to obtain the key.I give this an a tier it is a really cool idea and is the introduction of slow ass motherfuckin Jeff who moved so slowly and complains instead of helping this poor woman. The victim of this trap was Judge Halden. It was the second part of Jeff Denlon's trial at the Gideon Meatpacking Plant. Halden was chained to the ground of a big cylindrical vat. Next to it was a giant blender with multiple interlocking saws, which was connected with the vat via a chute. Additionally, there was a conveyor-like contraption at the ceiling. Once the game began, the blender was activated. Seconds later, several rotten pig carcasses hanging from the conveyor were carried into the room and dropped over the saws. Thereby, they were blended into a thick, grey, repulsive pulp which was poured into the vat over the chute and dashed Halden's body, which would ultimately result in him drowning in the liquefied carcasses. To survive, he had to rely on the help of Jeff Denlon. The key to Halden's chain was hidden in an incinerator among all of Jeff's memorabilia of his dead son. In order to save Halden, Jeff had to activate the furnace which would burn all the things inside, except for the key, which would then drop down into the incinerator's ash container. This trap isn’t very memorable and when I think of saw I don’t think of this trap and is probably the least good trap in this movie D tier. But Jeff should move faster. Slow ass motherfuckin Jeff is way to slow. But this is a super disgusting trap and must smell terrible. The victim of this trap was Timothy Young. It was the third part of Jeff Denlon's trial at the Gideon Meatpacking Plant. The Rack was a large contraption, resembling a metal crucifix placed on a small pedestal. At the top as well as the end of the arm segments were movable, cylindrical contraptions, each one connected to its own gear system. While Timothy's head was easily trapped in the top contraption without any further measures, his hands, which were trapped in the other contraptions, had to be bolted onto two small metal plates in order to prevent him from pulling his arms out. Similar contraptions were placed on the pedestal to the left and the right of Timothy and, just like the other machines, they both had their own gear system. However, these contraptions had no cylindrical form, but rather only consisted of the small metal plates to which Timothy's feet were bolted. Additionally, his arms and legs were strapped to the crucifix. Once the game began, the gear systems activated one at a time. The respective contraptions began to turn and slowly twisted Timothy's limbs, first his right arm, then the left one, then the right leg, then the left leg and finally the head, causing their bones to break. To survive, he had to rely on the help of Jeff Denlon. The key to deactivate the trap hung from a wire in front of the barrel of a shotgun located in an enlarged glass box. This wire was connected to the shotgun's trigger. Once Jeff removed the key, the shotgun would fire a shot at whoever stood in front of it, giving him little time to evade the shotI give this an S tier it is painful to watch and an amazing idea and is so good I just love it so much it managed to be terrifying without much blood.

saw 4

This trap consisted of a large, heavy metal contraption positioned in the middle of a mausoleum. In the center of the contraption was a winch with a long metal chain going through it. Each end of this chain was attached to two padlocked collars around the victims' necks. If the chain was pulled on strong enough at either end, a metal pin would be pulled out from the central device, thereby activating it. After that, an internal winch would start to turn, pulling the chained victims to the center of the room where they would ultimately suffer strangulation. Each victim had a different advantage in the game. On the side of the room where the first victim would wake up was a wooden box with several metallic tools which could be used as weapons, such as a hammer, a small axe and a hook. However, the victim on the side with the tools had his eyelids sewn shut, and therefore could not see. Meanwhile, the other victim had no tools on his side, and could not speak because his mouth was sewn shut. Due to their respective handicaps they were unable to communicate with each other in their attempt to get the key to their shackles, which was attached to the back of the shackle of the blinded victim. The moseleum is a bad trap especially for its cgi blood it does have its moments like when he opens his mouth and blood comes out but other than that it’s pretty disappointing D tier. This trap was the third one in a series of tests. It was located in a classroom at an elementary school. Two victims, each one waring a leather harness, were chained to a metal column back to back. Eight long, thin metal spikes impaled both of their bodies. While the spikes only caused flesh wounds on the first test subject, the other victim was mortally wounded as each spike impaled one of their major arteries. In order to survive and to avoid bleeding to death, the first victim had to pull out all the spikes, which would inevitably result in the other victim's deathScalping seat is a awesome idea that is terrifying and painful to watch and I gotta give it S tier. This trap was the second one in a series of tests. It was located in room 261 of the run-down Alexander Motel. While it originally was a ordinary double bed, it was turned into a vicious trap by Art Blank. Positioned on each corner of the bed were large metal columns mounted to heavy metal contraptions with gear systems. Attached to each of the columns was a chain with a shackle on the end of it. These were used to strap the test subject's limbs. Additionally, another metal device, resembling a vise, was positioned at the headboard and was used to hold the victim's head in place. On each side of the vice were two long miniature scythes. Before the start of the game, two triggers were handed to the victim, one to activate each scythe. Next to the bed was a nightstand with a tape attached to a small mechanism on top of it. When the tape was detached, it would play, and the timer began. The test subject then had 60 seconds to press both triggers, which would cause the scythes to pierce through the victim's eyes (one trigger per scythe), and deactivate the trap, releasing the subject from their shackles. If the subject didn't press both triggers within 60 seconds, the metal columns would fall back one by one and thereby rip out the victim's limbs. (Saw IV)The red room is awesome how his body parts get flinged all over the room and it is cool how he has the courage to stab his own eye and it is an amazing idea with brilliant execution and the descision to make him a rapist makes it satisfying to see him die I give this A tier. This trap was the third one in a series of tests. It was located in a classroom at an elementary school. Two victims, each one waring a leather harness, were chained to a metal column back to back. Both of their bodies were impaled by eight long, thin metal spikes. While the spikes only caused flesh wounds on the first test subject, the other victim was mortally wounded as each spike impaled one of their major arteries. In order to survive and to avoid bleeding to death, the first victim had to pull out all the spikes, which would inevitably result in the other victim's deathThe spike trap is a pretty cool idea executed descently but it isn’t very memorable or painful to watch C tierThis trap was the fourth and last one in a series of tests. It was located in a room inside the abandoned Gideon Meatpacking Plant at 11235 Blake Drive. It consisted of a giant seesaw-like scale positioned in the middle of the room. On one side of the scale was a large ice block. On top of it stood the victim who was held in place by a chain noose around their neck, which was hanging from the ceiling. On the other side of the scale was an electric chair. Positioned around the ice block were several radiant heaters which slowly melt the ice. The melt water would then flow on the other side of the scale and thereby seemingly kill the victim strapped to the chair with an electric shock. However, the chair was in fact without any function and solely served the purpose to provide one of John Kramer's apprentices the possibility to play the role of another victim in order to be able to observe the game at close range. On the ceiling above the participants was a large metal contraption with two mechanical arms, which each held a large ice block. The contraption was connected with the room's only door via a long chain. If the door was opened, the arms would swing down. Thereby, the ice blocks would inevitably smash the head of the victim standing on the ice block on the scale. The trap could be deactivated with a single button (and deactivating and releasing the victim of another trap). However, this only worked if the door remained closed for the duration of 90 minutes. (Saw IV)This trap is awesome a head being crushed is one of my favorite ways to see someone get killed I give this a B tier

Now we’re moving on to saw 5 ok we’re halfway there

The victim of this trap was Seth Baxter. His arms and feet were chained to a metal table in the middle of a big hall. Additionally, an automatic metal shackle was put around his neck to prevent him from moving away. Above him, towards the ceiling, was a large contraption which held a single large blade in the shape of a pendulum. Once the game began, the pendulum started to swing back and forth and was lowered down in regular intervals. After 30 seconds it would touch Seth's body, and after 60 seconds it would kill him by cutting his body in half horizontally. To the right and the left of him were two vises with small pressure buttons behind them. To stop the pendulum, Seth had to insert both hands in the vises and activate them by pressing the buttons, which would result in his hands being slowly crushed. This is a pretty good trap and definently my favorite of the movie it is gory and awesome and when I think of saw this is one of the first traps I think of it is everything I want from a saw trap A tierThe victim of this trap was Special Agent Peter Strahm. It was the last part of his and Special Agent Lindsey Perez' trial. After being locked up in a room at the abandoned Gideon Meatpacking Plant along with the corpses of John Kramer - the Jigsaw Killer, Amanda Young - his accomplice, and Jeff and Dr. Lynn Denlon - two of their victims, Strahm would soon find a hidden door leading to a hallway. An audio message left for him warned him to stay in the room and wait for reinforcements. If Strahm ignored the warning and went on, he'd eventually end up trapped in the Water Cube. It was a cube-shaped glass box which was suspended from the ceiling by two metal bars. On the bottom of the cube was a hole for Strahm's head. As the brim of the hole was lined with rubber, which laid tightly around his neck, he couldn't free himself without help. Suspended from the ceiling as well were two bottle-shaped water tanks with two tubes that were put through the top of the cube. Once the game began, the cube would quickly fill in with water, inevitably drowning Strahm. This is a great trap and I love how he solves it and I give it an A tier. This trap was the first part of the fatal five's trial in the catacombs. On one side of the room, there were five small compartments, one for each victim, all separated from each other by grates. Mounted to the wall of each compartment was a large v-shaped razor blade. Each one of the victims had a leather collar around their necks. A long cable ran through all of them, so if one of the victims moved forward, the other ones would be pulled back. One end of the cable was attached to a metal pin sticking in a timer on the wall. Once it was pulled out by one of the victims moving forward, they had 60 seconds to remove their collars. After 60 seconds, the cable was pulled so tight that every victim who hadn't managed to free him or herself would be decapitated by the blades behind them. The keys to the collars were located in five cube-shaped glass boxes positioned on pedestals a few feet in front of the compartments. Unknown to the victims, every key was able to unlock all the collars. Therefore, only one was needed to free them all. Additionally, there were homemade nail bombs in the room, which were connected to a second timer. The bombs would detonate after the 15 minute timer ran out and kill everyone who was still in the room at that point. This is a great trap with a great theme but the decapitation is cartoony C tier. This trap was the second part of the fatal five's trial in the catacombs. In the corners of the room were homemade nail bombs. Additionally, there were four chambers in the walls of the room which could save the victims from the explosion. However, they were locked and could only be opened with keys with special attachments in the shape of a square, a triangle or a star. There were only three keys, but the chambers were actually big enough for more than one person. Once the game began, the victims had 60 seconds to enter the chambers before the bombs detonated. Above the prisoners' heads were 16 glass jars suspended from the ceiling by chains. In each of these jars was one key. However, only three of them fit the locks of the chambers, while the other 13 keys were blank. Additionally, the jars were filled with broken glass shards to prevent the victims from seeing where the right keys were. In order to smash the jars, the test subjects were provided with two metal rods. This is a cool idea and I love the explosion and it is interesting and unique but isn’t very memorable I give it a C tierThis trap was the third part of the fatal five's trial in the catacombs. A water-filled bathtub was located in the middle of the room, surrounded by five current coils, each one with a cord with a special attachment, such as clamps or a hook. There were also homemade nail bombs in the room, which were connected to a timer and would detonate after 15 minutes. The exit door out of the room was secured by five deadlocks. In order to escape, the victims had to close five circuits, each one connected to one of the locks. Therefore, the five cords had to be connected to the water in the bathtub. As they didn't reach from the current coils to the bathtub, each victim had to hold one cable and thereby suffer a small electric shock. Once the game began, the prisoners had three minutes to accomplish their task. Otherwise, an electrical current would surge through the room, seal the door permanently and thereby lock them up along with the bombs. This is a cool idea but isn’t cool or memorable or gory and they killed her to easily I give it a B tier. This trap was the fourth and final part of the fatal five's trial in the catacombs. A cage table was positioned in the middle of the room. On the table stood a large metal box with segmented glass panes on its top. There were five holes on each side of the box. Inside each of these holes was a circular saw blade. In the cage underneath the table was a glass beaker, which was connected to the exit door out of the room. To open the door, the victims had to put their hands in the holes and must shove them into the saws in order to fill the beaker with ten pints of their own blood. If they didn't manage to accomplish this task within 15 minutes, they would be killed by homemade nail bombs set up in the room. This is an awesome trap and the goriest scene in the movie and I love it so much it is such a good idea that is executed so well and I love how they could have survived every trap in the movie if they weren’t all so selfish. I give this a S tier. The victim of this trap was Special Agent Peter Strahm. It was located in a room in an underground tunnel network. The walls to the right and the left of the door were made of thick, solid metal. Once the game began, they would start to move towards each other and ultimately slowly crush Strahm between them. The only way to escape was to go into a glass coffin, which was located in the center of the room in a prone position. The coffin itself was an elongated glass box filled with several glass shards. Once the door of the coffin was closed, it was automatically locked by metal screws. Under the ceiling of the room was a grate with two tanks on it. These tanks were connected to the coffin by tubes which would fill it with enough oxygen for Strahm to survive in the coffin for a short amount of time. Additionally, the coffin was connected to a gear system. Once the game began, the system was activated, causing the coffin to be lowered down. After the game, it was transported to an adjacent room where it was opened again, enabling Strahm to leave it easily.

I give this a B tier it is a cool way to end the movie but isn’t very unique but it’s well executed and descently gory

Saw 6

This game took place in a room which was divided in two segments by two metal grates in the middle of the room. Between these grates was a large scale. On each side of the room was a table with a knife and a meat cleaver attached to it by a chain and a tube lying on it. Each of the two victims had a mechanic device on their heads with screws pointing at their temples. Once the game began, the victims had 60 seconds to use the cutting tools provided for them to cut off their own flesh and throw it on the scale. Whoever managed to sacrifice more flesh would survive while the other one would be killed by the mechanic device as the screws would then pierce the person's skull

This is an awesome idea and might be my favorite opening trap for a saw movie I love how you expect the overwieght man to win since he has more flesh to cut off but then the badass lady cuts off her own arm. I give this an A tier.

This trap was the first one in a series of tests. The victims of this game were trapped in two large identical contraptions. These contraptions consisted of two big metal clamps aiming at the victims' bodies from the sides. The test subjects were kept in their position by chains around their arms and a leather restraints around their stomach. Both of them had a breathing mask on their face. Once the game began, a highly sensitive pump measured their breathing activity. Each time one of them took a breath, the clamps would close in on their chest and thereby eventually crush their body. The only way for one of them to survive was the death of the other one. Once the game was over, the clamps around the winner's body moved back and the chains around the person's arms were opened automatically

This is a cool trap and one of the most memorable in the series but it isn’t anything special I give it a C tier.

This trap was the second one in a series of tests. It was located inside a large, empty aquarium located at the abandoned Rowan Zoological Institute. Two victims were standing on small platforms with their hands strapped behind their backs. Additionally, both of them had a noose made of barbed wire around their necks. To survive, the test subjects had to rely on the help of a third person. Before the aquarium's glass pane was a panel with two handles that were attached to chains. The third test subject had to take the handles. However, only one of the other two victims could be saved. Therefore, the third victim had to let go of one handle in order to save the other victim. Over the course of the game, the chains to which the handles were attached were occasionally pulled tight. Once the primary test subject had made their decision, the two victims were released from their straps and the platform of the one who was sentenced to death would fall back, causing the person to be hanged by the wire noose.

I give this trap a D it isn’t gory or cool and the body leaves I think so he doesn’t have time to look at the descicion he just made. It is a descent idea with descent execution which isn’t enough for me I want a cool idea with cool execution.

This trap was the third one in a series of tests. It was located in the boiler room of the abandoned Rowan Zoological Institute. The room itself was divided in two levels. The first person tested in the trap was chained to a wall on the lower floor. A device was strapped to the victim's chest, which would be activated after 90 seconds and thereby shoot a pointy metal rod through the test subject's head. Once the game began, the victim had to progress through a passage leading to the other side of the room. The way was enclosed by a cage, giving the victim little room for movement. To survive, the test subject had to rely on the help of a second person who was standing on a catwalk above. At two points in the first victim's passage, there were two small tunnels which the victim had to crawl through. They were, however, blocked by steam coming from a row of pipes with high pressure. Each time the victim reached one of these passages, the other person had to pull a lever. This would divert the steam and cause it to burn the test subject's arms and shoulders, while enabling the victim on the lower floor to pass the tunnels. Once the first subject made it to the end, there was a ladder leading up to a small room on the same level as the catwalk. There were several photos which told the victim that the key to the trap around their chest was hidden inside the other person's body. Additionally, the victim was provided with a power saw to cut the key out of the second person's body, while probably killing the person.

This is a pretty cool trap with good execution and it’s hard to watch them be in such a hot room. Overall it’s good and unique and everything I want from a saw trap but it isn’t that memorable. B tier

This trap was the fourth one in a series of tests. It was located in a large animal enclosure inside the abandoned Rowan Zoological Institute. Six people were chained to the grabpoles of a rotating playground roundabout. Once the game began, the carousel occasionally stopped, causing one of the victims to sit directly in front of the barrel of a mounted shotgun. To survive, the test subjects had to rely on the help of a seventh person. Standing on a pedestal outside the enclosure was a small, cage-like box with two buttons inside. Everytime the carousel came to a standstill, the seventh person had to press both buttons simultanously in order to save the victim in front of the shotgun. Thereby, the victim's hand would be pierced by a metal spike. In return, the shotgun would go into an upright position and shoot above the other person's head without harming them, before returning to its original position. However, only two people could be saved while the other four inevitably had to die.

The shotgun carousel is a unique and one of the most popular saw traps and it’s very cool to see how each person handles there situation and it is not very gory but very good which is hard to do I give it an A tier

Now the final saw trap in saw 6  which I put in S tier it’s super gory and awesome looking it’s almost impossible not to put this in S tier it’s so good I love it.

Saw 3D

The Public Execution Trap: This trap is set in a public square within the Welthammer Store. Brad, Ryan, and Dina are chained to different parts of the contraption. The objective is for one of them (Brad or Ryan) to kill each other using circular saw blades while trying to save Dina who's suspended from the ceiling above a third blade. If neither succeeds within 60 seconds, the plate will be lowered, and Dina will be horizontally sliced in half by the saw blade.

This is a pretty good opening trap but i don’t think this is realistic since how would jigsaw get this giant thingy in a public space and it being public adds nothing so why give yourself plot holes if you don’t need to just for that i put it in F tier

2. The Pain Train: Jill Tuck is chained to metal rails above the floor with her arms and legs restrained. A motorized contraption with a giant blade attached to its front (the "pain train") must be activated manually by pulling a lever. Once started, it moves towards Jill and gains speed, inevitably ripping her apart.

It is a memorable trap and decent enough and the previous one is more memorable but less good though C tierThe Horsepower Trap: Evan is glued to a car's driver seat, while Kara, Dan, and Jake are chained to different parts of the trap. The objective for Evan is to tear himself away from the seat and pull a red lever within 30 seconds. If successful, it'll prevent a deadly chain reaction involving chainsaws, metal plates, and spikes.

This trap is complex and mechanically impressive multiple ways to die and it is painful to watch his skin rip and the trap killing all of them is awesome and memorable S tier

4. The Lawnmower Trap: Alex and Sidney are suspended above the floor, clinging onto levers with sharp metal parts that harm their hands. Below them are several upturned lawnmowers. One of them must let go of the lever to fall into the rotating blades while the other holds on.

This trap makes no sense and is full of plot holes it is not very brutal and it does a decent job at creating a sense of horror F tier. The Suspended Cage: Cale is trapped in a long hallway with a noose around his neck and a mask on his head. To survive, he must rely on the help of Bobby Dagen, who's across from him. Bobby has to guide Cale over obstacles and then throw a key for him to remove the noose.

It’s a simple but effective trap that relies on reflexes and timing but it isn’t very memorable and when I think of saw I don’t think of this trap and it isn’t very well executed D tier

7. The Silence Circle: Nina sits in a metal chair surrounded by rods aiming at her throat. To survive, she must rely on Bobby Dagen's help to obtain the key from within her stomach attached to a fish hook.

It’s psychologically terrifying which makes it stand out forcing the victim to rely on another person for survival it is a little Lee impactful because of its focus on noise rather than violence. It is still awesome and painful to watch I give it A tier. Also the thing that does kill her is the rods which makes it less good.8. The Impalement Wheel: Suzanne is strapped to a plate within a metal wheel with three pointy rods pointing at her eyes and mouth. As the wheel turns, these rods move closer to impaling her.

A disturbing trap that shows how willing jigsaw is willing to go to the extreme it’s memorable but not as good as some of the others. It also lasts a while making it more disturbing

10. The Wisdom Teeth Combination: Bobby must pull out his own upper wisdom teeth to obtain the combination numbers to unlock a door.

A inventive and unique trap that is hard to watch without even being very gory it’s memorable but not as violent or disturbing as some of the others C tierThe Brazen Bull: Joyce is trapped on a small metal platform with a chain around her neck attached to a winch below. Bobby must pierce his pectoral muscles with hooks and hoist himself up to the ceiling to deactivate this trap.

F tier immediate F tier Joyce didn’t deserve this

JIGSAW

This trap was the first part of the Murderer's Trial. After all except Logan woke up, the tape played and the chains started pulling everyone to the buzzsaws. Jigsaw explains that they will each have to sacrifice a small amount of blood in order to remove their bucketheads, and whoever tries to cheat would die. Anna realizes that they only needed to sacrifice at least a small amount of blood so she ends up cutting herself. The others follow what she did and end up being free from their buckets, aside from Logan, who looks like he got cut by the buzzsaws

This became an iconic trap for its simplicity and its pretty great and genius I give it a B

The victim in this trap was Carly. Billy the Puppet wheels out with a tape attached to him and a piece of paper that says 'confess'. Everyone starts to get pulled by the chains again but Mitch grabs the tape that Billy had and the chains stop. The tape was the voice of John Kramer and was telling the group to confess and that one of them had poison injected into them and was a purse-snatcher which lead to the death of an asthmatic woman. The group check their body for marks but everyone is clear but Carly. Three needles descend from the ceiling which has numbers printed on them, the tape says that one has the antidote, while the other two contain a harmless saline solution and Hydrochloric acid. Before the tape ends, it asked, "How much is life worth to you?". Ryan grabs the needles and tells Carly to pick one. Carly keeps on repeating the numbers "3.53" as this is how much money she got from the lady. Carly starts freaking out and can't decide. The chains start to pull the group towards the ceiling, trying to hang them. Ryan tries to inject all three needles in Carly as they are close to be hanged on the ceiling. Ryan successfully injects all three and they all drop to the ground. Carly gets up and sees Ryan injected all 3 needles in her neck. Carly starts to scream and drops to the ground. Blood pours out from the needle wound and from her ears killing her as the needle in the acid was injected in her system.

I give this a D it isn’t very memorable but it does look cool seeing all of them hang and her skin melt but other than that it lacks most things that make a memorable saw trap

The victims in this trap were Anna and Mitch. Mitch and Anna left Ryan in the leg trap, while they investigated the newly-opened door. They walked into what appeared to be a grain silo, where there was a video monitor, and two remotes: one hanging from above, and one near Ryan. The remote in the silo was just out of reach, so Mitch lifted Anna up to reach the remote. Once the remote was retrieved, the door to the silo slammed shut, locking them in. They pressed "play" on the remote, and Billy the Puppet appeared on screen to explain the rules of the trap, and how to escape it. Ryan must pull the lever near his leg that will set them free. He said that he must "Free himself to free others". After the tape ended, the silo filled with grain, burying Anna and Mitch up to their chests and arms, at which point it stopped. However, sharp objects such as knives, pitchforks, and circular saw blades then began to fall, surrounding the two, and occasionally hitting them. Once Ryan finally pulled the lever, the cables around his leg tightened until his leg was severed into 3 sections, freeing him from the trap, and opening the silo door, freeing Mitch and Anna.

The victim of this trap was Ryan. Ryan spots a door marked "No Exit" and proceeds to walk towards it in hopes to break through and escape the game. The door is on a slightly raised wooden platform which Ryan steps onto. The platform breaks away from beneath him, causing his leg to fall through.Three cables to wrap around his leg; one around the bottom of his calf, another around the upper/mid calf, and the last one above his knee. the cables are pulled taut by a series of pulleys. A tape player is then found in the bottom of the trap, which Mitch attempts to pull out with a rake, on his first attempt to retrieve the tape, Mitch accidentally hits one of the cables, causing them to pull even tighter on Ryan's leg. Mitch then tries a second time to retrieve the tape player with a rake, and again hits one of the cables, this time supposedly triggering a second set of cables that shred the rake. Mitch attempts to grab it with his arm, and finally succeeds. John Kramer's voice is heard on the tape, explaining that there is a lever located behind the cables of the trap, that will "set him free" A door then opens which leads to the silo (and the Grain Silo Trap within).

This is a pretty terrrifying trap drowning in sand or whatever that is and having to cut off your own leg I give this an A it is high budget and suspenseful but it is weird how when the weapons drop on the people in the silo so many drop but none of them hit them

The victim in this trap is Mitch. Mitch finds a tape with his name on it. Once he pressed it, he was dragged upside down to his trap. John's voice was heard in the tape and says that years ago, he sold a motorcycle to a man who was John's nephew. Mitch lied to his nephew saying that the motorcycle was working but in reality, it had a faulty brake which lead to the death of John's nephew. He was suspended above a cone-like metal object with metal coils on the inside. John explains that he must press the handbrake at the bottom of the cone in order to stop the trap. After the tape, Mitch was slowly lowered down into the cone. As this happened, the very bike that Mitch had sold to John's nephew ran, causing the trap to spin. Anna climbed on top of the trap and tries to jam the wheels with a metal rod and was successful. Mitch, relieved, stops trying to reach the brake. However, the motorcycle wheel breaks the rod and begins spinning again, and as Mitch panics, he begins to swing, essentially throwing himself into the coils, which kills him and mutilates his body as Anna stands at the top of the trap.

This is a pretty cool trap with a decent amount of blood and a cool concept I give it a B tier section.

The victim in this trap is Detective Brad Halloran. Logan, who was supposed to have failed the game, appeared to die from the trap, though his collar had less powerful lasers on it, so after his "death" Halloran confessed that he let innocent people die and the evil walked. However, Logan got up and revealed that the trap was inescapable. Logan revealed to Halloran that he is Jigsaw's first apprentice, and that he was one of the contestants in his "original game". He reveals that the bodies they have been finding is his doing, as he recreated the first game with only three victims, with Logan and Halloran being the final two. The first three victims were placed in many of the same traps as in the first game (namely, the Bucket Room, the Chain Hangers, and the Cycle Trap). Halloran protested by saying that John would give his victims a choice; a way to win the game. Logan, however, rebutted by saying that he had a choice: to scream or not. Logan activated Halloran's collar, which had functioning laser cutters, despite his protests. The lasers sliced Halloran's head into eight pieces and then released his corpse, which fell to the ground.

I give this a A Tier it is unique and not common in horror movies that lasers kill people and it looks cool seeing his head split open.

SPIRAL

The victim of this trap was Marv Bozwick. He was trapped in a subway tunnel, standing on a stepladder with his hands tied behind his back with barbed wire. Suspended from the celling by a chain was a metal trap which was attached to his tongue. In order to free himself, he had to bite through his tongue or fall of the stepladder ripping it off, and then walk on the handrails to avoid the train. Once the game began, the subway train would run him over if he wasn't able to free himself.

This is a simple but unique trap that is pretty genius and I like the new voice for the new jigsaw A tier

The victim of this trap was Fitch. He was placed in a large tank, with a bundle of wires hanging slightly over the edge. A faucet would gradually fill the basin with water. A table in front of him had a metal bar on top that would stop the his arms from moving forward past a certain point. On top of the table was a motor connected to a large turning device around which ten wires were wrapped. The wires went under the bar on the table and ended in a set of very tight metal sheaths placed on his fingers. Once the game began, they would be electrocuted to death if he failed to remove his fingers before the 90 seconds is up and the water rose to the wires. He wore a cage-like helmet with two small bars on the front. The victim could bring the bars together by biting down, which would start the motor. The device would begin to slowly turn, retracting the wires and pulling the hands of the victim under the bar. He had to continue biting down until his fingers were entirely pulled off, at which point he could safely exit the tank.

Another great trap from the movie. I think that this is another unique trap that is also kinda simple. I give it a B. It’s sad that the mpaa made them cut out the gore which hurts my rating of this trap.

The victim of this trap was Angie Garza. This trap consists of a large boiler full of hot wax and a table which she is restrained on. She has a cloth placed over her face and a blade positioned under her neck, which threatens to sever her spine. The wax container has a pipe leading over her face, and when it is activated a valve in the boiler will open, allowing the hot wax to pour over her face. The wax will cool and harden, suffocating her if she fails. The only way to stop the wax is for her to force her neck into the blade hard enough to sever her spine, which will stop it from coming out the pipe.

This is another awesome trap that is painful to watch that I love I give it a A tier it is definently the most memorable from this lame ass movie.

The victim of this trap was Peter Dunleavy. He is hung by their hands via chains, with their back facing a large chute. On the other side of a chute was a large metal grinder, and above that a conveyor with many glass bottles on it. Upon activation, the conveyor would begin to dispense the bottles into the grinder, which should break the bottles into small shards. Once the game began, the grinder would launch the glass shards through the chute, where they would be flung into his back, where he would quickly die of blood loss. He needs the help of a second person, who must find the key and go up to the him and open the padlock, which would stop the grinder and conveyor.

This is another great trap in a movie full of great traps that is also a little painful to watch and it’s well directed and cool but not very memorable compared to the others in this movie.

Saw X

The Victim of this trap was an unnamed custodian. He has a mechanical contraption placed around his face with two tubes attached to a vacuum. His right hand is in a fingersnap contraption and his left hand is free to move a dial. The custodian is told he has 60 seconds to move the dial all the way over and his sight will be saved. The vacuum starts up as the trap begins. And each tick on the dial controlled by the left hand snaps the finger of the Victims right hand. If the Victim doesn't free themselves within 60 seconds the vacuum will suck out the eyes of the victim leaving them blind. It is revealed that this trap is created in the mind of John as he witnesses the custodian attempt to steal from a patient. John seemingly drew inspiration for the trap when he noticed the patient's fingers strapped by the bed. In John's mind, the custodian failed the trap and had his eyes sucked out and was blinded in the aftermath.

This is another awesome trap that is a great idea and so relaxing and satisfying to watch his eyes get ripped out but I don’t think his fingers were pulled far enough to break them B tier

The Victim of this trap was Diego. he eventually woke up with 2 small pipe bombs attached via metal ties on either arm. The ties were sewn into his flesh. Attached to his hands were blades of which he could use to cut the ropes that bound him, triggering a timer. Once this timer is triggered, he is given 3 minutes to sever the flesh with said blades that the metal ties are grafted into in order to remove the pipe bombs from his arms and survive the trap. He is unable to break the metal ties with just the blades. If the victim did not remove the devices in three minutes, the bombs exploded.

This is a great trap and decently gory which makes it better and I like how the victim survived because it is super rare for a saw victim to survive. I think its a well executed trap B tier

The Victim of this trap was Valentina. The trap has its victim tied against a pipe inside the abandoned hospital, with a Gigli saw wrapped around the victim at neck height. Valentina was given a second Gigli saw and dotted lines drawn across her leg, showing her where to cut. Next to Valentina is a device that measures bone marrow and a bone marrow collecting device for the Victim to use. The trap will activate the Gigli saw around the victim's neck and decapitate the victim if 3 ounces of bone marrow isn't collected within the 3-minute time limit. In order for Valentina to escape this trap, she must saw off her leg with the Gigli saw and collect the required amount of bone marrow before the time expires. Ironically enough, just before John started the trap, Amanda assured the trapped Valentina she would be able to make it if she kept her head, something Valentina would lose after failing. Valentina ended up succeeding in amputating her leg however due to slight hesitation and fear, she lost a few seconds, she would then place the tube in order to extract the marrow needed, the marrow is then extracted however the amount needed isn't met in time and the wire moves closer until it slices through her neck instantly decapitating her as she screams.

S immediate S tier best kill of the year for sure it is so satisfying to see her cut off her own leg and it is even awesome and gorier to see her head get cut off the gore is great and the trap is great and the acting is great. S tier

The Victim of this trap was Mateo. He is strapped to a defunct wheelchair and has a mask placed around him covered in electrodes. Above him is a camera that displays the feed of his head to the nearby monitor to allow Mateo to complete the trap. Mateo plays a tape that explains that he must remove a sample of his cerebral tissue and place it in the glass beaker in front of him, which will unlock the key and allow him to escape the trap. Mateo is given 3 minutes to use the tools provided to perform brain surgery on himself. If the timer goes off and the victim has not escaped the trap, the heat coils in the mask will heat up glowing bright red, the mask will close and burn/melt the victims face. Similar to the proposed waffle trap in Saw II that was never used.

This does everything a good saw trap should do it’s gory but still leaves a lot to the imagination and is painful to watch A tier

The Victim of this trap was Gabriela. She is suspended in the air by a chain shackled to her left wrist, and she has another shackle on her right ankle. In front of her is a supercharged external radiation therapy machine. She is provided a sledgehammer and given 3 minutes to smash her foot and hand to allow herself to release herself from the chains before the rays burn her to death. Gabriela manages to mangle her foot enough to release it, swinging her away from the radiation's path, but the machine moves back into position in front of her. Gabriela successfully releases her other shackle by bludgeoning her hand, dropping her back onto the floor of the warehouse where she is left badly burnt, but alive.

Another great trap but it’s definently the least memorble from this movie for its lack of gore but I do like traps that are in the air B tier

Oh my fucking god I did this I can’t believe I did this this took so many hours and was so hard to do I know nobody listened or read to the end depending on how you found this if it is on my website yet which if you don’t read there will be a link in the description.  If for some miracle someone actually listened or read to the end thank you so much I worked so hard on this. When I started this list I was a bit of a saw noob only having seeing the films once but by the end of it I am like a saw god. Have a good day goodbye.
