top 5 horror movie prequels

1. pearl

Pearl is a masterpiece, it is enjoyable, creative, well-paced, well-written, and an amazing film, definitely worth a watch. it is super disturbing and shocking has great moments that are hard to watch, and has an incredibly Oscar-worthy performance from Mia Goth. She has to show a lot of emotions and she does it well, the last shot must have been so hard for her to do for a couple of minutes. it is disturbing to watch her go insane. this is the best prequel I have seen.

2. the first omen

The First Omen is a great complex enjoyable movie that doesn't rely on jumpscares and has a great story and a great pace. the main character is well-written and complex, and it has some truly shocking moments that had me covering my eyes, it isn't just ghost torturing this girl like every horror movie and the trailer made it seem like it is a truly creative and original horror movie with a story that isn't just spooky ghost stuff it has plot twists and a great story. and has a great performance from Nell Tiger Free. this is the top 3 horror prequels and is a prequel/sequel that lives up to the original. there aren't a lot of horror movies like this one. so far as I am writing this in early 2024 this is my favorite horror movie this year.

3. ouija origin of evil

The origin of evil is a masterpiece. after that garbage first movie, nobody could have expected the prequel to be this good. it has an amazing performance from Lulu Wilson, who is an excellent creepy kid, it has a great story, great cinematography, great lighting, great performances, great scares, and is surprisingly scary for a pg 13 horror film

4. prey

Prey isn’t a horror film but I guess if other people consider it one why not? Prey is a creative enjoyable movie. It has some nice action, some amazing kills some great acting, some great CGI, and a great story the only thing that’s not great is the writing the dialogue is kinda of mid it feels unrealistic but most of the movie isn’t talking so I don’t mind. The movie also had an amazing sound design. it does have the basic thing movies often have of a woman in a group of men and the men don't take her seriously because she's a woman then she proves she's stronger than them, but it does that trope well enough. also, I like how the first half an hour is just character development and her learning to be strong and how she doesn't begin the movie as a badass and she has to earn it.                                        

5. annebelle creation

Annabelle Creation is a great horror prequel after the nun people thought that the Conjuring Universe couldn't have a good prequel but they did it this movie is really good. it has great scenes, good scares, a really fun 3rd act, and good performances from the kid actors, Anabelle is a creepy doll.
