i will be giving my awards to the best horror films of the 2020s i could do one of the 2010s or 2000s but i probably wont, these are just my opinions so dont take them seriously

2020

best writing

freaky

freaky is well written with a fun script, the line deliveries make it even better, the script has its style and is super unique, it's not as tightly scripted as Happy Death Day but it is nearly just as good

best directing

Leigh whannell

after only two movies Leigh Whannell already has shown he has his style of directing, his directing is impressive and matches the tone and action scenes.

invisible man

best cinematography

the invisible man

there wasn't any good competition and its cinematography isn't amazing but it's still great

invisible man

best performance

Elizabeth moss

Elizabeth Moss gives an amazing performance and is believable and does a great job playing Cecilia

invisible man

best CGI

the invisible is one amazing villain

best k*ll

mr fletcher-table saw cut in half guy-freaky

best original film

freaky

freaky is a fun,  bloody slasher. it is easy to watch and always entertaining, and has creative ideas, it is funny and has some great and memorable kills, it explores its themes in a great way not making it too obvious, it has some really funny moments, it has some great horror references, the movie doesn't take itself too seriously but takes itself seriously enough that it's serious moments come off as sincere instead of cringe. christopher landon has shown he is good at writing characters and their relationships. the side characters are very well written and memorable too.

The best non original film

The Invisible Man

The Invisible Man is a masterpiece, it is an amazing combination of themes and style after leigh channel made an upgrade people knew he was talented, and after two films he has already shown he has his sense of style. this movie is super suspenseful and creative and doesn't rely on jumpscares. I would recommend this movie. It has a great pace shocking moments and great twists, and this movie has an Oscar-worthy performance from Elizabeth Moss. best horror movie of 2020.

best nonoriginal film aka sequel remake or prequel

Fear Street Part 3 1666

Fear Street Part 3 is an amazing movie that expertly sticks the landing and has a great ending. this movie has great writing great acting an amazing story amazing twists. ill be completely honest I wasn't very into these movies when I first started watching them but now i love them. it has two movies in one and, usually, there would be onehalff that I liked more than the other but in the,is movie I love both of the halves so muhalfhese movies expertly executed trilogy well good because lLeighjaneiLeighd her brilliance behind the camera I hope she has more movies after this I can tell she put a lot of efffort into these 3 movies and I give her a ton credit and she has already mastered her sense of style. i love how each movie got better and better.

best k*ll

best original film

smile

smile is terrifying, creepy, and enjoyable, you never feel safe and you always feel like something bad could happen, it's so impressive how they manage to make you think that something good like a smile seems so scary every time you see it, and has an oscar worthy performance from some bacon. this movie has very well-written conversations and Rose is a very complex character. I know everybody would choose X or Pearl but I think this is my favorite horror movie of 2022

best nonoriginal film

pearl

Pearl is a masterpiece, it is enjoyable, creative, well-paced, well-written, and an amazing film, definitely worth a watch. it is super disturbing and shocking has great moments that are hard to watch, and has an incredibly Oscar-worthy performance from Mia Goth. She has to show a lot of emotions and she does it well, the last shot must have been so hard for her to do for a couple of minutes. it is disturbing to watch her go insane. this is the best prequel I have seen.

best original film

m3gan

m3gan is a masterpiece, it is weird at times, does a super good job at exploring its themes, and m3gan is a super great villain and I can't wait for the sequel. and the main characters are also really interesting and well-written. I know everybody would pick to talk to me but I think this is my favorite horror movie of 2023

the best nonoriginal film

saw x

Saw X is one of the best Saw movies and is a bloody movie that focuses on Jigsaw and his emotions well and I was really happy to see the victims die. it has some pretty good traps too. it isn't just your average saw a movie where it opens up with a trap and there are a bunch of traps the whole movie with a ton of cops, this movie is more about the characters and not really about the traps, it takes an hour to get to the trap stuff, and Tobin bells performance is amazing. even though his actions are unacceptable you do understand why he's doing it, I am excited to see Saw 11 since this movie suggests a bright future for this franchise, in 2040 we are going to have 20 saw movies aren't we?
